The car was carefully polished up with a fully overhauled new 12V Electrical System with Dual Brakers – a new alternator – rebuilt carburetor – fresh oil – and brand new tires. Known as the "Golden Year" for the bug, 1967 brought a slew of upgrades for the Beetle model with a larger-displacement engine 1500cc, 53 hp at 4,200 rpm (designed to autobahn spec), bigger battery, front independent suspension, and various other improvements.
